HOOK

HOOK

Support

HOOK names the song playing in the current Chrome tab. There is no account and no login.

Identify a song

  1. Open a mix, livestream, or YouTube Music tab that is actually playing.

  2. Tap with the toolbar button, Alt+Shift+H, or right-click › Identify the song in this tab.

  3. If the page already shows the title, such as YouTube Music, a tap only saves the song. It does not run another identification.

  4. If it misses, play the chorus and tap once more.

Install HOOK

What you can do

This second

Jump back to that second

Lyrics

Read synced lyrics as the song plays (published lyrics, never generated)

Library

Keep listening from your library. If the page is still open, playback continues there. If you closed it, HOOK reopens that YouTube video and plays the song through from that second

Open

See the music tabs you still have open. A page that already shows the title is listed without using a tap. Press one and that YouTube tab plays, while other YouTube tabs pause

Previous · Play · Next

Use previous, play, and next on the card at the bottom-right of the page. Drag it anywhere

Listen

Open the song on Spotify, Apple Music, or Deezer

Share

Copy the title, or send a card with a link. Friends can open it without installing HOOK

Undo

Delete songs from your library, one at a time or several at once, with Undo

Side panel

Pin HOOK to Chrome's side panel and it stays open while you click or drag in the video. The player, rhythm bars, and synced lyrics sit at the bottom of the panel. Close it with X.

Auto (HOOK Pro)

Auto saves every new song in a mix with its timestamp. With several music tabs open, Auto follows the one that is playing (Chrome may ask for one click on the HOOK icon first). When the video is paused, Auto pauses too: no recording, no uploads, and no trial time used.

HOOK does not use your microphone and cannot capture DRM-protected audio (Netflix, Spotify Web player); on those pages it can only read the title the page shows.
